The Unsaid

About this work

His gaze is direct, yet his expression keeps something to itself.
Pale blue and warm gold break through the darkness in rough,
exposed strokes, while the black holds the parts we cannot see.

We often read a face quickly and decide what someone must be feeling.
But a look can hold more than one truth. What seems stern may also be thoughtful, guarded or vulnerable.

This portrait leaves that space open. It asks us to look a little longer,
beyond the expression, towards what remains beneath the surface.

In your space

His steady gaze meets yours from within the dark.
Gold, cream and blue-grey strokes bring his face forward, giving him a quiet, powerful presence.
